Overview Join us for Camden Market’s Día de Los Muertos festival, celebrating Mexican culture with live music, dance, parades, workshops and more

What is Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead)?

Day of the Dead is a celebration of loved ones who have passed away. A day to keep their memory alive through traditions that have been repeated in Mexico for thousands of years. Traditions include building ofrendas (altars) and decorating them with items such as candy sugar skulls and marigold flowers. Gifts are often given, such as pan de muerto (sugary bread).

How will we celebrate Día de los Muertos?

Camden Market Hawley Wharf will be decorated all over with papel picado, cactus gardens and our very own altar. Our Market Place will be bustling with hot food, drinks and artisinal Mexican cultural stalls. There will be workshops to take part in, including a Chocolate Experience, and a stage with a line-up of authentic performances - music and dance. Exciting parades led by Caterinas and Mariachi bands will wind their way across the site and there will be face-painting too.

Camden Market will be ablaze with colour, culture and music.

Last year, a visitor told us, ""Thank you for bringing a little bit of Mexico to this far away land for us."

All activities are free and welcome to all.

Do feel free to walk in although we do like our guests to book online.
